CEO and Director

Joshua Marks serves as our Chief Executive Officer and a member of our Board of Directors. Josh served as Global Eagle's Executive Vice President, Connectivity from 2017 to 2018, as Executive Vice President, Aviation Connectivity from 2016 to 2017 and as Senior Vice President, Operations Solutions from 2015 through 2016. From 2011 to 2015, he was the Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Marks Systems, Inc. (d/b/a masFlight), an aviation big-data analytics company that he co-founded and that we acquired in 2015. From 2008 to 2010, Josh was the Chief Financial Officer and a Director of eJet Aviation Holdings, a provider of VIP aircraft maintenance services, and the Executive Director of the American Aviation Institute, a commercial aviation policy think-tank. From 2003 to 2008, Josh served as a senior executive of MAXjet Airways, a transatlantic premium airline he co-founded. Earlier in his career, Josh was Associate Director of the George Washington University aviation institute and held key roles at two technology companies, Virtualis Systems (acquired by Allegiance Telecom) and VelociGen (acquired by SOA Software). Josh has a BA and an MBA from Harvard University.

Senior Vice President, Media & Content

Estibaliz (“Est”) Asiain is our Senior Vice President, Media & Content. Formerly Anuvu’s SVP Commercial, Media & Content, she now runs the entire Media & Content activities. Est has been in the Inflight Entertainment business since 1999, first with her family business Transvision, and then as part of IFE Services. She came to Global Eagle in 2013, and held many positions in her tenure, mainly in customer-facing Sales and Account Management roles. Through 2018, Est managed GEE’s Latin American region for Media Content, then picked up coverage for Europe and Africa. In 2020, Est took on global account management as VP Global Customer Success.Est holds a degree in Business Administration, with a specialization in Strategic Planning.

Erik Carlsen

Erik Carlsen

SVP, Maritime, Enterprise & Government

Erik Carlsen serves as our SVP, Maritime, Enterprise & Government. In this role, Erik leads all commercial activities on a global scale across all time zones, and many unique cultures.

Carlsen previously served as Senior Vice President of Sales, Business Development and Marketing for ITC Global, where he led the company’s growth by driving over $150 million in new contracted revenue within 18 months and contributed to ITC’s successful acquisition by Marlink Group. Prior to ITC Global, Erik has worked for leading technology, and finance companies where he brought to market new products and technologies, transformed customer and supplier relationships, and created various new business divisions which reduce customer risk and cost.

Erik holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He is also an Advisory Board member for the University of Houston’s Bauer College of Business.

R. Jason Everett

Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer

R. Jason Everett serves as our Chief Accounting Officer. Jason joined Global Eagle in 2019. He previously served as Vice President, Corporate Controller and Treasurer at Webroot Inc. from 2017 to 2019. He also served as Vice President and Global Controller at Ciber, Inc. from 2015 to 2017. Prior to that, he held two roles at Newmont Mining Corporation between April 2013 and August 2015: Director of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting and Director of Corporate Accounting. He has a BS in Accounting from Mount Saint Mary’s University, an MBA from University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business, and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Christian Mezger

Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Christian Mezger is our Chief Financial Officer. Christian previously served as Ciber, Inc.’s President and Chief Executive Officer and as Chief Executive Officer of CMTSU Liquidation Inc. (f/k/a Ciber, Inc.) from 2018 through 2019. Prior to that, he served as Ciber’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from February 2014 to December 2017, and its Senior Vice President, Corporate Finance from August 2011 to February 2014. Prior to joining Ciber, Christian served in several leadership roles for Hewlett Packard Company / Compaq Computer Corporation, including Vice President of Technology Services, Vice President of Worldwide Financial Planning & Analysis, and Senior Director of Corporate Planning and Global Function Finance. Christian received an MBA-equivalent degree in International Business Management with a specialization in International Finance and International Marketing from the University of Vienna. He currently sits on the Advisory Board at the University of Denver’s School of Accountancy.

Mike Pigott

Executive Vice President, Connectivity

Mike Pigott serves as our Executive Vice President, Connectivity. Mike joined our company in 2013, upon the public merger Global Eagle Acquisition Corp. and Row 44, Inc., the pioneer in modern inflight connectivity. Mike served in several roles since 2009 for Row 44, Inc., including Senior Vice President of Product and Portfolio, Vice President Connectivity Products and Solutions, Vice President Commercial Operations, and Vice President and Assistant General Counsel Earlier in his career, Mike practiced law representing numerous technology startups in the areas of venture capital and related financing, intellectual property, government regulation, and mergers and acquisition. Mike holds a degree in Political Economy and Philosophy from Tulane University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law.

Nancy Walker

Senior Vice President Commercial, Aviation Connectivity

Nancy Walker is Global Eagle’s Senior Vice President of Commercial, Aviation Connectivity, overseeing commercial sales and account management related to inflight connectivity. Nancy boasts a wealth of experience in both aviation and connectivity, having led network strategy, sales, product management and key accounts across a variety of airline, private aviation and government vertical markets. She is an engineer by training and education, with deep program and product experience at a technical level. Previously, Nancy served as Chief Commercial Officer at SmartSky Networks, where she was responsible for sales and accounts, as well as product management. Prior to SmartSky, she led launch and commercial account operations of IFC operations at LiveTV and Thales. Nancy holds a BS in Electrical Engineering, and a Master of Science in Engineering.

Kate Santoro

Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary

Kate Santoro is Anuvu’s General Counsel, based in Denver, CO. Kate leads Anuvu’s Legal and Compliance teams. Kate joined Anuvu from Janus Henderson, a global investment company, where she was Managing Counsel to Janus Henderson and Chief Legal Counsel to several of the investment companies managed by Janus Henderson. She also served as Vice President to Curian Capital, a private wealth management company, and General Counsel to Old Mutual Capital, a US subsidiary of Old Mutual, the global investment company. She has practiced in the areas of corporate law, securities law, and litigation for 20 years.
